There are more and more good domains expiring that one might expect. Must be the demise of the "get a dot com and get rich" philosophy of working for a living without having to work. There is still good money to be made online, but one does have to work for it. (As we all know about the WORK part... )
There are, in fact, sites popping up that offer (for a fee, of course) to grab that last remaining/expiring get-rich-quick name for you. Be wary.
However, you still can find a good lead - as Omni has pointed out - already having a site listed in Yahoo is probably worth far more than the cost of registration - especially if it is somewhat related to your business.
Example: I got "lucky" when I bought ABeachVacation last fall for ten bucks. It received 12 visitors from a Myrtle Beach directory the day I put it on line. Over the course of a year that is a well-spent ten bucks.
Crabby is definitely right. Type-in domain names and well listed (directory)domain names are definitely well-worth if they are related to your site.
More expired domain names in Dmoz:
hooligangraphics.com
voice-five.com
Enjoy :)
